Team Coaching

I help teams of two or more working on shared writing projects make creative and strategic decisions to ensure the process goes as smoothly as possible and the end-result shines its brightest.

Team coaching provides a:

  • Facilitated container for learning and reflection

  • Fun opportunity to cultivate group cohesion

  • Space to give and receive thoughtful, honest feedback

By centering accessibility practices, I will also help you create shared agreements and plans that honor the needs and contributions of everyone on your team.

What’s next:

Special areas of expertise

  • People who have erased “invisible” disabilities and contested illnesses

  • Deep feelers, highly sensitive people, and empaths

  • Queer, trans, gender expansive, and intersex experiences

  • Fat and multiply marginalized people

  • Sick, Mad, Crip, and Spoonie identities

  • People of Jewish lineage and/or experiences

  • Siblings (I am one, myself!) of people who have intellectual, developmental, and other disabilities

  • “Others”—people who often feel like outsiders or outcasts

I offer a limited number of reduced-rate services for people who are financially oppressed and underrepresented in literature. Contact me for more information.

Developmental Editing

My goal as your developmental editor is to help you utilize your existing brilliance, originality, and creativity to bring your story to its greatest possible version.

I am guided by three core questions:

  • What is already fabulous and shining?

  • Where is your manuscript stuck or not working?

  • What changes are needed to successfully get it where it’s going?

Using these questions, I will provide you with specific and clear recommendations for areas of improvement, such as structure, setting, voice, character, plot, and pacing, to fully immerse your readers.

By building on your existing strengths and what is already working well in your manuscript, I will show you how to generate the forward momentum to maximize your story’s impact.

What’s next:

  • I’d love to discuss your needs and how I can help. Book your free consultation here.

  • Or, if you know you’re ready to get started, purchase developmental editing here.

I am excited to learn about you and your writing goals!

Workshops, Trainings, and Presentations

I am available to lead workshops, interactive trainings, and presentations tailored to groups and audiences of all sizes and experience levels.

My areas of expertise include creative nonfiction, disability and LGBTQIA+ representation in literature, disability studies, social justice/anti-oppression, narrative medicine, and health humanities.

Example topics include:

  • Elevating Authentic Disability Representation: how to realistically and respectfully portray disability in your writing

  • Take Back Your Truths: reflective writing to uproot your pain-shaming stories and the stigmas that fuel them

  • Writing from Your “Lived Body”: phenomenological and embodied writing practices to attune your writing

  • Writing for Coping and Hoping: writing exercises to help process difficult experiences

  • Metaphors, Language, and the Body: how ableist conceits are embedded in language and generating our own languages of liberation

  • Who’s Narrating Your Story?: finding the voice, tense, and part(s) of you to tell your most authentic truths

  • Framing to Set You Free: an examination of different approaches to establishing your narrative frame such as temporal (time), location, and subject- or concept-based

I would love to discuss how I may customize a workshop, training, or presentation for your group or audience. Book your free consultation here.
